Terms of service

Last updated 2026-08-15

These terms govern your use of HomeRecordingSetup.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

What this site is

An informational and educational resource about home recording, room acoustics and audio equipment, funded by affiliate commissions. It is published in good faith and provided free of charge. It is not a professional consultancy, an acoustic engineering service, or a substitute for measurement in your own room.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage or impair it.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its hosting.
  • Scrape, harvest or bulk-copy the content for republication.
  • Use automated systems in a way that places unreasonable load on the infrastructure.
  • Misrepresent the content as your own, or as endorsed by a manufacturer.

Intellectual property

The written content, calculators, data compilations, design and code are the property of the site operator and are protected by copyright. You may quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link back. You may not republish substantial portions, reproduce the calculators, or copy the reference tables wholesale without written permission.

Product names, brand names and trademarks referenced on this site belong to their respective owners. Their appearance here is nominative reference for the purpose of identification and comparison, and does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from those owners.

Product images are served from Amazon under the terms of the Amazon Associates Program.

Accuracy of calculators and specifications

The calculators implement standard published formulas and are believed to be correct. They make explicit simplifying assumptions, which are stated on each page. In particular, the acoustic calculators model an empty rectangular room with rigid parallel surfaces, which no real room is. Results are a starting point for investigation, not a measurement.

Equipment specifications are drawn from manufacturer datasheets at the time of compilation. Manufacturers revise specifications between production runs without notice. Confirm any specification against the current datasheet before making a purchase that depends on it. Where a specification could not be confirmed, it is omitted rather than estimated.

Prices are indicative, were accurate at the time of compilation, and change constantly. The live retailer listing is always authoritative.

Affiliate links

This site earns commissions from qualifying purchases made through affiliate links, at no additional cost to you. Full details are on the affiliate disclosure. Following an affiliate link takes you to a third party site governed by its own terms and privacy policy, over which we have no control and for which we accept no responsibility.

External links

Links to third party sites are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site and everything on it is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or anything on it. This includes without limitation damages for equipment purchased on the basis of information here, hearing damage from exposure to high sound pressure levels, damage arising from installation of acoustic materials or mounting hardware, lost recordings, lost profits, or loss of data.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Safety and installation

Acoustic panels, bass traps, monitor stands and microphone stands are physical objects with real mass, and mounting them overhead or on a wall carries real risk. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, which govern in every case, and use a qualified professional for any work involving structure, electrics or overhead mounting. See the disclaimer for more.
